Republican Senate Candidate Crystal Miles calls out Sen. Josh Newman for failing to address Fentanyl Crisis

ORANGE, CA - - Republican State Senate Candidate Crystal Miles called out State Senator Josh Newman for failing to address the fentanyl crisis that has killed thousands of Californians.

“Josh Newman has his priorities all wrong. He stays silent and fails to act while his fellow liberal Democrats block every serious bill to address the fentanyl crisis and crack down on dealers who peddle fentanyl, but he finds time to introduce and push legislation forcing local school districts to open gender-neutral bathrooms at every school,” said Miles.

Crystal Miles is a Villa Park City Councilwoman, business owner and research scientist running in the new 37th State Senate District. Most of the district is currently represented by Senator Dave Min (D-SD37), who is running for Congress. Senator Josh Newman (D-SD29), who represents only 10% of the seat currently, is running in the 37th District in 2024.

Senator Josh Newman is best known for being recalled by voters in 2018 after voting for a massive gas tax and car tax increase. Since his return to the State Senate, he has concentrated on changing recall election laws to make it harder for voters to exercise their rights to remove officeholders.

The 37th Senate District is expected to be a top legislative target for both parties in 2024. The Orange County district stretches from Fullerton in the north to Laguna Niguel in the south.
